Overview
On Tuesday 22 July 2025, The Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) proudly hosted the 20th edition of the Standard Chartered Great City Race, an iconic 5K corporate challenge that brings thousands of runners together in the heart of London. Set within the HAC’s historic five-acre Artillery Garden, the event once again showcased the estate’s ability to accommodate large-scale, high-energy sporting occasions while supporting meaningful global causes.
Objectives
- Deliver a seamless race start and event hub for more than 5,000 runners
- Provide a secure, spacious and inspiring outdoor environment in Central London
- Support the logistical, operational and charitable goals of the event
- Celebrate the race’s 20th anniversary with an exceptional participant experience
Event Summary
Each year, the Standard Chartered Great City Race unites companies across the capital for a vibrant corporate 5K. The 2025 edition was fully sold out, with over 5,000 participants setting off from the HAC’s Artillery Garden before weaving through iconic London landmarks including St Paul’s Cathedral and the Bank of England. The atmosphere was electric, with teams, volunteers and spectators filling the grounds with energy and anticipation.
Hosting the start of the race at the HAC has become a beloved tradition. The estate’s large private lawns, central location and accessible layout make it ideal for pre-race assembly, warm-ups, branding, and event infrastructure.
Supporting a Global Cause
The 2025 race continued its long-standing partnership with Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, a global initiative focused on youth economic inclusion.
Key charitable impacts included:
- One third of each entry fee donated to the Standard Chartered Foundation
- Matched fundraising by Standard Chartered PLC, doubling the event’s positive impact
The HAC proudly supported this year’s philanthropic efforts by providing the platform for a day rooted in community and meaningful action.
