Armoury House

History of Armoury House

The HAC has used the Artillery Garden since 1641 however, the Armoury House was built and furnished in 1735 and became the new home to the HAC. The Grade II listed building situated in the heart of the City of London was designed by HAC member, Thomas Stibbs and currently houses a collection of the finest historical artefacts and treasures from the regiment’s history.

Today, Armoury House is still the home of the HAC Regiment and provides a place for over 2,500 active members to meet and socialise. The 18th century manor house has six rooms available to be hired out for a range of events including conferences, dinners and sporting events in the Artillery Garden. Most spaces throughout this historic building benefit from an incredible combination of high ceilings and ample daylight with modern AV facilities and all tell an important part in the inspiring story of the Honourable Artillery Company’s history.

Historical Event Spaces in the City of London

Our range of spaces in Armoury House is ideal for elegant private events such as dinners, drinks receptions and parties and also well suited to corporate conferences and meetings that desire a unique setting with modern AV facilities. The Artillery Garden is also commonly hired out in conjunction with one of our unique indoor spaces to cater for post sporting event drinks receptions or dinners.

Perhaps the most coveted space in Armoury House, the Long Room is often described as the heart of the HAC. The grand space benefits from over 13 ft high ceilings, large windows overlooking the Artillery Garden which flood the space with natural light, and wood-panelled walls throughout.

The Long Room is the largest individual space in Armoury House, catering for up to 250 guests in reception and 160 at a round table sit-down dinner. To maximise the use of the space and its features, we recommend using the quaint minstrels’ gallery to house a string quartet or band to enhance the ambience of your event.

Ideal for more intimate events, the Queens Room and Ante Room, both located on the ground floor making them easily accessible for all guests, the spaces are often booked in conjunction with one another for events that incorporate different elements such as a breakout or catering space.

Considered the most unique space in Armoury House, the Medal Room is situated at the top of a beautiful staircase from the main entrance to our Georgian manor house. The space features huge windows and has a vibrant atmosphere but at centre stage is the impressive and touching collection of medals.

When searching for a space that perfectly combines a professional setting with historical features throughout, the Court Room is your perfect choice. With large windows, 13 ft plus high ceilings and rich colour palette décor, this room are ideal for smaller business or private events.
