The Prince Consort Rooms

Step through the archway off City Road and into a world that feels entirely removed from it. The Prince Consort Rooms sit within the HAC's private five-acre estate: a rare pocket of space, history and seclusion that makes it one of the most distinctive large-scale event venues in central London.

Converted from the Regiment's former drill hall and defined by a soaring vaulted ceiling, painted brick walls and a polished wooden floor, the PCR is one of London's most distinctive large-scale event spaces. It is a genuine blank canvas: a venue with the scale to host up to 690 guests and the flexibility to be transformed into almost anything.

With its own dedicated entrance, private archway and courtyard, all fully brandable, the guest experience begins before they set foot inside.

The HAC is recognised as one of London's leading event venue, having won Gold for Best Venue with Outside Space (East) at the London Venue and Catering Awards 2025, and Gold for Best One of a Kind Venue (500+ Guests) at the Christmas Party Awards 2026.

A Versatile Large-Scale Event Space for up to 690 Guests

Set within the historic grounds of the Honourable Artillery Company, the Prince Consort Rooms are the HAC's largest and most versatile space. Converted from the Regiment's former drill hall, the room combines striking architectural character with the flexibility required for large-scale modern events.

The estate is self-contained and privately controlled, with manned entrances and guest-list-only access: the kind of exclusivity usually associated with country house venues.

With capacity ranging from 130 guests in a boardroom layout to 690 for a standing reception, the Prince Consort Rooms host conferences, AGMs, weddings, gala dinners, awards ceremonies, Christmas parties, product launches, brand activations, graduation ceremonies, fashion shows, networking events and private celebrations. It is also available for weekend dry hire weddings and as a unit or crowd base for film and television productions.

Located on City Road, the venue is just a short walk from Moorgate Station and Old Street Station (both approximately 5 minutes), and Liverpool Street Station (10–15 minutes), with Barbican and Finsbury Square also nearby.

AV & Technical Facilities

The Prince Consort Rooms work with specialist AV partners who know the space inside out and design tailored technical solutions for each event. Rather than a fixed in-house rig, this approach allows production, staging, lighting and audio-visual elements to be specified around the precise requirements of your event, whether that is a conference with complex presentation needs, a live awards broadcast or an immersive themed celebration.

An integrated atmospheric lighting scheme is already in place within the space, comprising remote-controlled pin spot lighting and LED colour-change uplighters, providing a strong foundation for event theming and production design.

Events at the Prince Consort Rooms

Alongside the core event types below, the scale and blank canvas nature of the room also make it suitable for other large-format events, including graduation ceremonies, fashion shows, filming support and brand takeovers.

Summer Parties

In summer, the Prince Consort Rooms extend well beyond the main hall. A full-length skylight runs across the entire roof, flooding the space with natural daylight and creating an indoor-outdoor feel even when guests are inside. Combined with direct access to the adjoining Terrace and courtyard, and the HAC's five-acre Artillery Garden beyond, the space creates a natural flow between inside and outside that is rarely achievable at central London venues.

The PCR accommodates up to 690 guests for a standing reception, with options for informal dining, street food, BBQ catering and drinks-led events.

For more detail on hosting a summer event here, see our Summer Parties at the Prince Consort Rooms page.

Conferences, AGMs & Corporate Events

The Prince Consort Rooms are built for large-scale corporate events. With capacity for up to 400 delegates theatre-style (with AV) or 240 in cabaret layout, the space supports conferences, AGMs, product launches, exhibitions and multi-format events with equal ease.

The dedicated courtyard entrance and registration area create a polished, controlled arrival experience from the outset. An adjoining room provides a practical space for speakers, organisers or production teams, while additional rooms across the HAC estate can be used for breakout sessions.

The neutral, open-plan interior makes the PCR especially suited to brand-led events where visual identity matters. The entire space, including the archway, courtyard and entrance, can be branded to create an immersive arrival experience, giving corporate clients the kind of full venue takeover more commonly associated with purpose-built conference centres, but with a setting that is genuinely distinctive.

Brand Activations & Product Launches

Few venues in central London offer the PCR's combination of blank canvas scale, private access and brandable outdoor space. The room's neutral palette of vaulted brick, polished wood and flexible lighting provides a versatile foundation that can be fully transformed to suit brand guidelines and creative briefs.

The dedicated entrance, archway and courtyard can be dressed, lit and branded independently of the main hall, giving production teams control over the entire guest journey from street to stage. Whether for a product launch, press event, brand takeover or immersive activation, the PCR delivers the kind of impact that other event spaces cannot replicate.

Gala Dinners & Charity Events

The Prince Consort Rooms provide an elegant and well-equipped setting for formal dining and fundraising events. With capacity for up to 350 guests on round tables, the space accommodates staging, speeches and live entertainment alongside dining, with the layout adaptable to suit the rhythm of each event.

The atmospheric lighting scheme, including remote-controlled pin spot lighting and LED colour-change uplighters, provides a strong foundation for theming and production, without the need for extensive additional equipment.

Weddings & Civil Ceremonies

Licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 400 guests, the Prince Consort Rooms offer a flexible setting for both ceremonies and receptions.

The space can be configured to host different elements of the day within one setting, with access to the courtyard and adjoining Terrace providing additional options for drinks receptions and guest arrival. The interconnecting bar area creates a natural social focal point, while the neutral décor allows the space to be styled to suit a wide range of wedding themes.

Dedicated wedding coordinators work closely with each couple to manage the flow of the day, from ceremony through to evening reception.

For couples looking for greater flexibility, the Prince Consort Rooms can also be considered for weekend dry hire weddings, allowing more control over suppliers, styling and the overall structure of the day.

Awards Ceremonies

The scale and layout of the Prince Consort Rooms make it one of the most capable awards venues in the City of London. The space supports full stage setups, lighting rigs and live production, with capacity for up to 350 guests for a seated awards dinner.

Guests can gather for a drinks reception before moving into the main space for the ceremony, while the adjoining room serves as a practical green room or VIP holding area. The dedicated entrance and courtyard provide a fitting arrival moment for high-profile events.

Christmas Parties

The Prince Consort Rooms are one of the HAC's most popular spaces for end-of-year celebrations, and it is easy to understand why. With capacity for up to 690 guests for a reception or 350 for a seated dinner, the space is large enough for significant corporate events yet characterful enough to feel special.

The integrated lighting scheme and neutral interior allow the room to be themed and transformed for festive events, from elegant black-tie dinners to full-scale Christmas party productions. Searcys provide festive catering across a range of formats.

Film Locations, Unit Bases & Crowd Bases

The Prince Consort Rooms are well established as a production-friendly venue, offering the scale, privacy and operational control that film and television productions require. The space is available for use as a unit base or crowd base, with the secure, privately accessed estate providing a contained and manageable environment for cast, crew and supporting artists.

The PCR's size, high ceilings and flexible floor plan also make it a credible location for interior shoots, while the courtyard, archway and grounds provide additional production options. Manned access points and guest-list-only entry provide the security and discretion that high-profile productions demand. For film location enquiries, please contact our events team directly.
