With a firm commitment to environmental, social and governance principles (ESG), the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) is championing charity events as the venue partner for numerous organisations that are working to support and empower communities.
Over the last year, the HAC has hosted charity events including Only a Pavement Away’s Cook & Dine, Hope for Tomorrow, the Invictus Games Foundation Conversation and the Standard Chartered Great City Race, reflecting its commitment to social responsibility and community support.
The most recent charity event hosted at the HAC was for Hope for Tomorrow, a charity dedicated to bringing cancer care closer to patients. HRH Prince Michael of Kent attended the occasion, where the charity’s innovative mobile cancer care unit was unveiled in the HAC grounds. This unit has been transforming access to vital treatment, ensuring that patients receive essential support within their communities.
In collaboration with catering partner Searcys, the HAC hosted Only a Pavement Away’s Cook & Dine charity lunch. This annual fundraising event supports the charity’s mission to create employment opportunities in the hospitality sector, ensuring that everyone has a chance to build a rewarding career.
The team at the HAC are passionate about marking tradition and creating new legacies and this outlook was summed up when the venue was chosen to play its part in the Invictus Games Foundation Conversation. The Invictus Games celebrate sportsmanship amongst wounded, injured or sick armed personnel and veterans. To mark the 10th anniversary of the Games, the HAC hosted special guests including Dominic Reid, CEO of the Invictus Games Foundation, The Duke of Sussex and Johnny Mercer, Minister of State for Veterans’ Affairs.
The HAC was also a hub of activity this summer as over 5,000 runners gathered to take part in the Standard Chartered Great City Race. Participants completed a 5k course that passed some of London’s most iconic landmarks. The team challenge event was supported by Futuremakers, a global initiative focused on promoting economic inclusion for disadvantaged youth. The expansive grounds of the HAC provided the perfect setting for big numbers and a big impact on behalf of this important charity.
The HAC also partners with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity dedicated to providing essential support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families. Since 1 January 2020, this collaboration has been important in ensuring that those who have served our nation receive the necessary assistance during times of need and transition.
The HAC continues to champion charity events with the venue serving as an inspiring setting for organisations dedicated to making a difference, reinforcing the belief that everyone deserves a chance to succeed.
Sarah McQueen, Catering and Events Director at the HAC, emphasises this commitment: “The HAC is proud to be a leader in hosting charitable events. ESG is an important focus for us and we’re proud to create a supportive environment where we can get involved with charitable causes and provide extra support to the community. We’re looking forward to strengthening relationships with our existing charity clients and fostering many more, as we look to further our charitable and community support.”
